Wherever You Are

© Michael C. Rudasill 1998

The soul of my love, in the still of the evening,
Silently sifts into all that I am
Until all that I have gives the angel her due.
The soul of my love, in the silence, is you.
The home of my heart is wherever you are.
Just sitting beside you is heaven.
And far past the heavens, untouchable,
One trembling star.
The home of my heart is wherever you are.
Hide me away in the deep of your heart.
Cast away all who would change who we are
Except the sweet Saviour
Who brought us this far.
The home of my heart is wherever you are.
Unfettered, untrammelled, unchangeable, pure,
The fragrance of heaven is not so demure
As the one made anew by the One perfect Star.
The home of my heart is wherever you are.
This season of time will soon pass like the leaves
Whose beauty burns brightest
Bereaving the trees...
But ours to a better home, flawless and free.
The hope of our hearts is the place we will be.
Lonely I found you. Now lonely no more,
I never could own whom the angels adore;
I shared in your beauty as shared by my King,
Who stands at the door of the heaven of stars.
The home of my heart is wherever you are.
Here in the heart of wherever you are.
